JMRC meeting: March 27th 7:00 PM Sharky’s Club

The 2001 Installation Banquet was a success!!

An enjoyable evening was had by all that attended the event. The food was wonderful, the bar well stocked, and Pete performed magnificently as the Master of Ceremonies. Tommy kept the crowd entertained with his off the cuff humor, as usual.

Our guest speaker, Lt Col Bruce A. Bleakley, USAF (Ret.) is the Director of Education at the San Diego Aerospace Museum. He gave an informative, educational, and humorous presentation on the early days of aviation.

Pete received this “Fly Baby” as a gift for his service as President of the JMRC in 2000.

After Tommy presented this slightly off scale version of the plane to Pete, the real gift was unveiled. Pete received the 1/4 Scale Fly Baby kit that he’d hoped for. (in addition to the cute “plane” that you see him holding in the photo).

His program will consist of the showing of a major network documentary featuring his outstanding career, after which the Colonel will open the floor to questions.

Congratulations Pete!

CRITICAL INFO!!!

You may have noticed that the phone at the LZ was dead for a week or two in February. It was disconnected by Base Tel because we didn’t have a phone connected in the red box on the pole. Without a phone connected in the box AT ALL TIMES, Base Tel will disconnect the line again.

DO NOT REMOVE THE PHONE FROM THE RED BOX FOR ANY REASON!

Model of the Month

No MoM this meeting due to the Installation Banquet

Senior Field Marshal's Report - March 09, 2001

Over the past few weeks we faced some problems which prevented us at times from flying at LZ53; most of these were weather related but we also experienced some telephone failure problems mostly caused by ourselves. Our Honorable President was unable to fix the weather problems but did great on the telephone which now works just fine. To prevent future similar problems, please do not remove or disconnect the telephone located in the red box at the pole; This instrument is Marine Corps property and should not be tampered with.

Our telephone is located in our shelter.

Due to Marine corps assignments, we have lost two of our field Marshals (Jeremiah Wheeler and Dan Redig), however we have been fortunate to recruit Denis Teason to fill in and we hope that you will all give him your cooperation.

In order to make it easy to see that everyone flying at the LZ is either a JMRC member or a flying guest of a member we will be issuing “Guest Badges” to flying guests of our members. These badges are to be returned to the field Marshall prior to the departure of the guest and his member host. It is also requested once more that all members wear their badges VISIBLY.

Happy Flying - Jose Tellez

IMPORTANT Member Information!

When you are first on the field you must call Long Rifle 725-4604, move the frequency box and 2nd phone to the flight line and make an entry in the log located in the flight box by signing your name, and writing the time and any comment at the appropriate date. When closing, also make the appropriate entries in the log. As a courtesy we also recommend advising the 1st Marines OD at opening and closing.

Failure to follow this procedure will be grounds for a serious penalty. Since you can conveniently verify the field status by looking at the log in the frequency box, ALL members found at the field with intent to fly when there is no entry for the date in the log will be penalized. The first time penalty will be ONE MONTH off flying status. A second time penalty will be cause for dismissal from the JMRC club.

It is critical that we contact Long Rifle before and after flying.
